Preview of the day

Day 1
Reached Chiang Mai then traveled to Maehongson by van (250bht/p) for 7 hours. Visited Kong Moo temple and local areas.

Day 2
Visited local market in the morning, prepared food for camping at Pang-Ung National Park. The living cost here is pretty cheap. Breakfast for 7 people at the market cost only 80 baht in total! It’s no harm trying Shan food – Fried ripe papaya (try ones with minced kaffir lime leaves) , Khao Puk dipped with sugar cane syrup or toasted Khao Puk with icing and black sesame. Also visited the Karen hill-tribe village before leaving for Pang-Ung National Park.
One night at Pang-Ung was like heaven. The sky was so clear. The light was turn off at 11pm allowing million of stars to shine. It encouraged my friends and I to go out at 6 degree Celsius to take some shots of the stars.

Day 3
Woke up at 6am. What a wow! The sunrise was stunningly beautiful and the fog over the lake… I can’t explain it! After having fun with photo session, we started packing our tent. Visit Phu Klone on the way to Pai city. Some had facial treatment with natural mud, I chose to soothe my feet in natural mineral water
Pai is so much like Khao San road (that sells lots of scarves)!! The living cost is quite expensive here. It cost us 1600 a night to stay at Pai La Mer resort. (50 baht/tent for camping at the national park)

Day 4
This was the day we were waiting for the whole week! Our favorite soap was on the channel 3! It seemed that we were more excited to see the soap than to explore Pai city. Anyway, we got ourselves out to the famous coffee shop “Coffee in love” and the famous postcard shop “Mitrthai”. We dropped by Chinese Yunan village to taste its specialties – steamed pork knuckle (something similar to ‘Schweinehaxe’) and deep fried Chinese bun. Then back to the resort and watched TV, yay!

Day 5
Traveled by local Song Taew, visited Thai Grand Canyon and off to Huai Nam Dang national park. Watched soap on TV again!

Day 6
Morning fog wasn’t what I expected. It’d rained since the night before and continued ‘til the morning. So I didn’t get a great shot. On our way back to Chiang Mai, we dropped by at Pong Dued (natural hot spring water) and had a bath … soo nice and warm… ^-^ Dropped by Fah Haam restaurant to have Khao Soi Kai/Nuea (northern specialty – Egg noodle with chicken or meat) before going back to Bkk by train.

Day 7
This was the first thing I was when I opened my eyes! Natural beauty impressed my from the beginning until the end of this trip. Sorry for my inability to capture great shots. The actual natural phenomenon was so much more impressive. We spent 5300 baht each for this trip (transportation, food & accommodation, excld. small pocket ฿-฿ for souvenirs)
